A hundred years
of building well.
Four generations on the same corner of Manalapan — milling, stocking, and advising the people who build Monmouth County.

It started as a mill.
Millhurst Mills opened in 1925 as a working lumber mill, cutting and selling local timber to the farms and homes of central New Jersey. The name stuck, and so did the family.
Four generations later we're still on Sweetmans Lane — now a full lumber yard, paint center and Ace Hardware dealer — but the idea hasn't changed: stock good material, know how it goes together, and treat every customer like a neighbor. Because most of them are.
The mill opens
Founded as a working sawmill cutting local timber for area farms and homes.
A full lumber yard
The post-war building boom turns the mill into a stocking yard for builders.
Hardware & paint
An Ace Hardware affiliation and Benjamin Moore paint desk join the yard.
Two ways to source
The retail home center plus Millhurst Trading — wholesale, closeout & contractor lots — under one family name.

People who know the job.
Big boxes have aisles. We have people — folks who've framed houses, stained decks, and matched a thousand paint colors, and who'll walk you through yours without a queue ticket.
We remember the contractors by name and the stain they like. We'll load your truck, count your boards twice, and tell you straight when you don't need the expensive option.
“Stock good material, know how it goes together, and treat every customer like a neighbor.”
A century in, still family-run.
Stop by the yard at 17 Sweetmans Lane — we'd love to help with your next project.
