Paint-grade, stain-grade or PVC
The substrate decides the price and the finish. Swatches are indicative of tone — see the real thing at the counter.
PVC can be ordered pre-finished. Garden State Lumber will finish PVC trim to any Sherwin-Williams colour from a four-digit code, which is worth knowing when you are matching siding or window colour.

The Hardwoods Collection runs two programmes. Quick ship covers over sixty popular profiles in poplar, red oak, maple, cherry and sapele, with no minimum quantity. Custom run covers any Garden State Lumber profile, or a profile of your own, in effectively any hardwood or softwood species.
For a profile that is no longer made, bring a piece of the original trim to the counter. GSL mills from a sample, and we will come back with the knife-setup cost and the lead time before you commit.

Getting a trim run right
Most problems on a moulding order are avoidable, and they all happen before the saw comes out.
Measure and allow
- Measure each wall and add an allowance for mitre waste rather than ordering exact lengths.
- Order long lengths for long walls — much of the Designer and Prestige stock runs in 18-foot lengths, so a joint mid-wall is often avoidable.
- Decide paint- or stain-grade before you order. Finger-joint and MDF cannot be stained.
- Bring the profile number from the catalogue. It removes all the guesswork at the counter.
Storing and finishing
- Let the stock acclimatise indoors for a few days before you cut, especially MDF in winter.
- Store flat and off a concrete floor. A bowed length is a fight on the wall.
- Prime cut ends before install — particularly MDF, which drinks moisture at the ends.
- Keep the offcuts and the profile number. Together they are the fastest way to match a repair years later.
